Ok, so unemployment is stupid high, like 1 in every 5 working Americans is out of a job. States are rushing to reopen hoping that will give their local economies a jolt, because now it's about partisanship over health. We're seeing first hand a disproportionate amount of minority deaths, and not just when they're being gunned down on a jog. There's information sabotaging, propaganda going viral (more on that in "Random"), and meanwhile we've all lost focus on the most important thing. Science.
Not to sound like I'm beating a dead horse (which is my favorite thing to do btw), there are just simple common sense explanations on why we can't reopen yet, despite the economic situation. Two key markers of this being dose and time. A Ph.D from UMass, Dartmouth Erin S. Bromage, spells out the simple facts that "assuming we have just crested in deaths at 70k, it is possible that we lose another 70,000 people over the next 6 weeks as we come off that peak. That's what's going to happen with a lockdown."
"As states reopen, and we give the virus more fuel, all bets are off. I understand the reasons for reopening the economy, but I've said before, if you don't solve the biology, the economy won't recover." Not to mention doctors are now realizing COVID attacks more of our organs than just our lungs, but hey, it's your body.
biology > economy. Needless to say, it's about to get ugly.
